The school has adopted DfES guidelines in establishing its policy on charging for educational activities.
The policy is as follows:
1. Where activities take place during school sessions, parents should be invited to make voluntary contributions towards the cost of the activity on a pro-rata basis, but a pupil should not be prevented from taking part in that activity because his or her parents cannot make a contribution. (In the event of insufficient financial support being provided to meet the expenses of a particular activity, the activity may have to be withdrawn).
2. Where activities take place outside normal school sessions, charges should continue to be levied as appropriate.
3. The Headteacher must be consulted if a parent wishes to make an application for full or partial remission of charges.
4. Charges can be made for materials where parents have indicated in advance that they wish to own their child’s finished work.
5. Parents will be asked to meet the cost of breakages or damages where these are the result of inappropriate behaviour on the part of their child.
