TWO MILE ASH SCHOOL
PROSPECTUS 2006 - 2007
Supporting information included as Appendices
A20 SEX EDUCATION
The heart of TMA’s ethos centres upon the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development of all our children.
Sex Education plays an important part in this development, and is delivered as part of the school’s Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) Programme.
Our children are encouraged to appreciate that a supportive and caring environment is essential for the development of a positive self-image, and that individuals are in charge of, and responsible for, their bodies.
Parents should be re-assured that the teaching of Sex Education will be complementary, and supportive to, the role of parents, and will be set in a moral framework being taught in a manner that will promote a healthy lifestyle.
We understand that parents may have concerns regarding the teaching of Sex Education. Accordingly, an annual review of topics covered, as well as details of planning and resources for the school’s PSHE Programme, are available (upon request) for parents’ perusal at any time.
If, after studying this information, parents wish to withdraw their child from the Sex Education elements of the PSHE Programme, they are entitled to do so after informing the Headteacher of their wishes.
