                                         (incorporating Home School Agreement, Behaviour Policy,
                                                Anti-Bullying Policy and Equal Opportunities Policy.)

Philosophy

 

We believe that the most important function of the school is to maintain an environment in which every member of the school community achieves success and self-fulfilment. There must be a total consistency of expectation that everyone (irrespective of gender, race and culture),  should feel safe and secure, have empathy for all others, and place a high value upon individual achievement and personal development.

 

Purpose

 

This policy should:

 

·     encourage effective two-way communication, promoting an excellent home – school partnership where parents will not hesitate to raise concerns

 

·     establish a clear understanding of the school’s expectations

 

·     promote a feeling of belonging and self-worth

 

·     create a positive environment in which effective teaching and learning can take place

 

·     encourage the celebration of success

 

·     encourage a sense of commitment and pride in the school

 

·     encourage zero tolerance of bullying in any form

 

Success Criteria   ( We will be achieving our aims if.................)

 

·     any individual’s concerns are shared and addressed immediately using strategies uniquely appropriate to individual need and circumstance

  

·     children are not afraid to make mistakes

 

·     children exhibit self-discipline at all times

 

·       individuals value being rewarded

 

·     individuals take pleasure in the success of others

 

·     individuals express pride in belonging to the school community

 

·     individuals feel that they are treated fairly and consistently

 

·     individuals recognise the need for sanctions

 

·     there is an appropriate and clearly defined range of sanctions known by all

 

·     the depth and range of the curriculum meets the needs of all pupils

 

·     the school environment is comfortable, well resourced and conducive to interactive learning

 

·     feedback to pupils and parents is appropriately constructive so as to support pupils’ learning

 

·     individuals treat the school  buildings and environment with respect

 

·     the needs of all individual pupils are recognised

 

·     individuals feel safe at all times when with other members of the school community

 

·     individuals know that their concerns will be taken seriously

 

·     individuals challenge prejudice

 

·     parents are kept well informed about all aspects of their child’s progress
