Physical Education is regarded as an important area of our curriculum as we attempt to develop creative and aesthetic aspects of movement as well as the ability to participate in group and team activities at both competitive and non-competitive levels.
We encourage our children to make their best efforts to improve their own personal fitness and agility through a variety of physical experiences, but the key emphasis is always upon enjoyment. No TMA child will ever have to take part in any sports activity outside the normal curriculum, unless he or she chooses to do so.
Those TMA children who do take advantage of the many resources and coaching skills on offer will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including cross country, football, netball, hockey, cricket, swimming, rugby, athletics, lacrosse, rounders, dance, creative gymnastics and aerobics.
Excellent links have been established with local sports clubs, and the school often makes good use of these additional facilities and coaching expertise, as well as making our own playing fields and facilities available to other schools and clubs. We also host a variety of tournaments throughout the year.
TMA teams also compete in many local and national tournaments, and over recent years they have earned an enviable reputation for their commitment and sportsmanship.
Sport helps to raise individual TMA children’s self-esteem as well as fostering attitudes of loyalty and belonging. TMA’s philosophy is unquestionably one of “Sport for All”, and not “Sport for the Winning”.
